Soyons précis
Pour commencer, nous allons tout simplement bannir quelques verbes ou mots “fourre-tout”.
Exit les « faire », « dire », « voir », « mettre » et autres « trucs, machins et bidules » ! S’entraîner à trouver le bon mot est un exercice très enrichissant : à la place de « faire », on peut désormais « réaliser », « accomplir », « créer », « effectuer » « agir »… Et pour les fameux « machins », il suffit de trouver le bon terme et le tour est joué !
On pourra aussi bannir les « il y a » pour inciter à développer d’autres constructions de phrases. Par exemple, « il y avait du monde au supermarché ! » devient « le supermarché était bondé ! »
Attention à ne pas pour autant tomber dans le « non, c’est pas comme ça qu’il faut dire » systématique.

How can you learn French without immersion? There are so many fun ways to learn French without ever leaving your home country! Here are some ideas:
Read French books or listen to French audio stories
Read books or listen to audio stories-Books are a great way of learning new french vocabulary and practicing your reading.
French books are available both in print and as e-books, so you can learn on the go! You can also listen to audio stories online or download audiobooks onto your mp3 player for offline use.
French conversation partners
If you’re feeling chill, connect with a native French speaker who is learning English via video chat (such as Skype) and practice with them!
This is an excellent way of picking up new words and phrases.
French Television/movies/YouTube videos
There are tons of great shows that you can watch online without having to leave home. Make sure to check if they’re dubbed in French before watching though; while subtitles may help you learn the language, dubbing forces you to learn the language as it’s spoken in real life, which is a great skill to learn!

French Music
Listen to French music whenever you can.
Songs will help you learn new vocabulary and pronunciation. Try to find songs that are sung by native speakers; these will help you learn natural intonation and accent.
You can also learn the lyrics very quickly this way!
I recommend you the singer Grand Corps Malade. He is easy to understand and you will learn French idiomatic expressions and familiar French vocabulary.

French Games
Find fun ways for practicing your French skills with games like Scrabble, hangman, crosswords (Le Monde has online versions of their paper crosswords), etc.
Social networks
Use Facebook or Twitter to connect with French people who are learning English. Practice your conversational skills with them over chats or video chats (again, Skype).
If you’re looking for French speaking friends, learn with duolingo! These are just a few ways of learning without immersion. There are many more out there!
French Online courses
You also have the possibility of taking French courses on the Internet, for example :
– individual courses, alone with the teacher. THE best solution to progress! You will progress very quickly!
– or work alone, with video training specially created for students to learn easily French language.
the benefits of learning without immersion while most people learn French by immersing themselves in the culture and environment of a country where it’s spoken fluently, is this really necessary?
The answer is no; learning French without immersion has its perks too!
And here they are: you can learn French at your own pace, choose your resources, learn what interests you most and learn French without ever having to leave your home country!
